2017 is Listen To Your Mother's Grand Finale Season, Portland Says Good-bye

Early this summer, my show partner Susan and I agreed that the 2016 Listen To Your Mother:Portland show would be our last as producer and director.

The last three years have been so much wonderful. We gathered armfuls of storytellers, moments ago strangers, and shared their voices with hundreds of eager listeners, and held one another, tenderly witnessing our truths both hard and hilarious, both common and unique. We became community. And we will continue to be, in new and wonderful and not-entirely-known-yet ways.

Todaythe mother of the Listen To Your Mother movement, Ann Imig, announced the upcoming 2017 season as the stellar last for ALL live Listen To Your Mother shows.  A grand finale of mother-loving goodness. This final season will include a soon-to-be-released roster of returning cities. As no new cities or production teams will be added, there will be no 2017 Portland show. We didn't know on stage in May, that our 2016 show would be Portland's last, but besides missing the chance to say good-bye and thank you in person, we wouldn't change a thing.

To Ann Imig and the entire LTYM national team, to our directors and producer sisters in local cities nationwide, to our kick-ass sponsors, photographers, videographers, and venue, to my two glorious production partners, Kelli Martinelli and Susan Fleming, and our beautiful family of storytellers: THANK YOU for the opportunity, for the support, for the magic. I had the most amazing time.  Love and luck to us all. -Carisa

Today the Listen To Your Mother show is offering up 500 unique, personal perspectives of the human experience viewed through the lens of motherhood.  With tremendous thanks to our production team for their diligent processing, we are pleased to announce the videos from our 2016 LTYM show season are now ready for the eyes of the Internet. You'll find our 3rd annual Portland show, right...about...here.

Each of this season’s 41 shows can be found on the Listen To Your Mother YouTube channel,  which features a selection of playlists by city and topic. For 2016 we’ve added two new playlists–one with stories about race, and another with stories from LGBTQ families. You will also find 2016 Director/Producer playlist2016 featured videos, and 2016 humor videos.

A few tips for first time viewers: the stories of each show were thoughtfully assembled in a particular order, so if you’re looking for something akin to the live show experience, go in for an entire city’s playlist and watch in order from start to finish.

Also, tissues.

Come together with us, watch and listen.

Portland's Gratitude

Portland's Gratitude

We’ve got gratitude, yes we do, we’ve got gratitude…for you! (How embarrassing. I’ve reverted twenty years,  to my accidental cheerleading days.) It’s true though, Susan and I, we’re feeling thankful. The third annual Listen To Your Mother:Portland show was a dynamite success. Stories told, tears cried, laughs belted out loud. We’re grateful for the chance to put the show together and we loved doing it. From the storytellers who compelled the connection to the audience who held us tenderly as we braved the stage, we've got a lot of thanks to give...READ MORE

2015 Videos!

2015 Videos!

They're here! Now you can watch the 2015, 39 city season of Listen To Your Mother.

I'd like to offer the follow tips for your viewing pleasure:

Have tissue and/or shirtsleeve nearby for when you start to tear and snot.

Sip beverages during a reading at your own risk. (In case of need, aforementioned tissue/shirtsleeve can also be used to wipe spat coffee/wine off your keyboard post compulsive laughter.)

Each story is amazing on its own, but each live show was curated as a whole. The overall experience is enhanced when you watch a city's show in order.

Portland is right around the middle of the alphabet,  it starts with "P".

Enjoy!
